Jennifer's Bio


Jennifer was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 16, 1966 during the infamous Speck murders.  Her family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she attended Elementary and High School. Jennifer received a special award when she graduated due to her perfect attendance record for 12 years and was the valedictorian for her class. In 1984, she came to Washington, DC to attend Howard University. She graduated in 1988 Cum Laude with a BA in Political Science.  She is a dedicated mother and grandmother.  Her son, who she affectionately calls Joe, is 23 years old and her grandson Eric is 3 years old.


 Jennifer is the Director of Internal Services at the Edison Electric Institute. She is responsible for providing leadership and direction to Internal Services Staff. This position oversees and supervises the Internal Services staff in coordination and planning of all support services to other departments including hospitality and conference rooms’ set-ups, mail distribution, shipping, reprographics services, receptionist, audio-visual, and facilities. Jennifer currently supervises a staff of 11.


Jennifer is committed to giving back to the community and is an avid volunteer at Martha’s Table, Food for friends, DC Central Kitchen, and often takes time from her busy schedule to read to younger children.  She regularly donates money to the House of Ruth. Founded in 1976, House of Ruth helps women, children and families in greatest need and with very limited resources builds safe, stable lives and achieves their highest potential. She also sits on the Board at the Appletree Institute for Education Innovation and Appletree Early Learning Center.

Jennifer’s stands on the words of Booker T. Washington and believes that “Success is not to be measured so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which one has had to overcome while trying to succeed.”
